At a presentation in 2005 as part of the twenty-fifth anniversary of Audi's all-wheel drive system, the public was first introduced to the gecko as a symbol of the Audi Quattro. Why did the concern choose the gecko as the Quattro symbol? The decision to use the logo came due to the supernatural ability of these animals to stay on almost any surface. The gecko presses its paw so tightly that close surface contact helps it move easily through trees, sheer cliffs, and glass. The Audi Quattro system features permanent all-wheel drive with electronic torque vectoring technology for all four wheels, which are the equivalent of bristle-covered gecko feet in the natural world.
